A holistic approach
Ibn Sina Sanctuary was established in 2023 when we saw the need for a counselling service that was faith-based, and culturally sensitive to the needs of people within our communities.
Our service is named after the great polymath Ibn Sina (980-1037), who contributed to our modern understanding of psychology. He recognised that there was a link between the mental, physical and the spiritual states of people, and that treatment required addressing them all.
Our service offers you a tailored approach that takes into account your mental, physical and spiritual states. Our counsellors are all registered with the British Association for Counselling and Therapy (BACP), and receive ongoing training in both the Western and Islamic counselling frameworks to provide you with the best possible support.
OUR HISTORY
It's not just about finding any counsellor
Counselling is a lot harder when you have to provide cultural or religious context about decisions you have made to someone who doesn't understand.
You don't need to translate yourself.
Our team of counsellors create spaces where you can address the cultural pressures, the quiet sacrifices, the internal tug-of-war between dunya and deen - all this being within the framework of their Islamic beliefs.
OUR COUNSELLORS
Expectations
We ensure a private and safe environment where individuals can openly discuss their concerns without fear of judgment.
We assist individuals in setting achievable goals and working through challenges. We help clients develop coping skills, enhance self-awareness, and find effective ways to manage their difficulties effectively even after our sessions finish.
We understand and respect the religious beliefs and values of our clients. This allows us to provide them with counsel and support that is truly suited to their needs.
We get to know our clients, and are committed to providing personalised care. We offer tailored strategies and interventions that address individual challenges effectively.
What can counselling help with?
Counselling can help with depression, anxiety and trauma. It can also help with so many other things, like loneliness, setting boundaries with family, fertility, marriage and youth.
